Senior year of high school has brought two Buddy Up Tennis Columbus Athletes to center court and center field! Maria Magnacca celebrated her final match as a senior on the Gahanna Lincoln High School Tennis Team and Cameron Campfield led the Westerville Central High School football team onto the field for one of their fall football games.

Each week on the courts at Buddy Up Tennis, our Buddies and Coaches get the honor of working with Maria and Cameron and watching their abilities and confidence evolve. These skills transform off our courts as well and we are proud of their accomplishments into their school arenas and communities.

Maria has a unique story leading her onto the GLHS courts: Four years ago as a freshman, Maria wanted to join the team and Buddy Up Tennis Columbus Buddy/Junior Coach Kathleen McGuff worked with Maria, the team, and Coach to make it happen. Maria became manager of GLHS Tennis Team and has enjoyed being a member of the Lions throughout her high school career.

For Cameron, it all started with a football jersey. As a football lover, Cameron was overjoyed when he was given his very own Westerville Central High School Football jersey. The next step would be getting him onto the field to experience practices as a waterboy and then leading the team onto the field for a game. The entire team embraced Cameron as a member of the Warhawks!

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month and we want to share with our communities, our Athletes capabilities both on and off the courts, and Cameron and Maria are amazing examples of how our Athletes reach and achieve their dreams every day and have an impact on those around them.
