Our Impact

Our Impact

Embracing Life with Down Syndrome

We provide structured growth opportunities, expert-led curricula, and individualized support designed specifically for people with Down syndrome. Each program is created around three Pillars of Impact that enrich the lives of all participants.

Health & Wellness

The Challenge

Individuals with Down syndrome are born with low muscle tone, which can impact balance, coordination, and reaction time. As a result, many participate less in physical activity and face a higher risk of obesity, Type 2 diabetes, and heart-related conditions.

Our Solution

Buddy Up programs promote regular movement, coordination, and lifelong healthy habits through structured, adaptive programming that meets each Athlete where they are.

Friendship

The Challenge

Social isolation remains a significant challenge for individuals with Down syndrome, especially beyond childhood. Limited opportunities for peer interaction can lead to loneliness and an increased risk of anxiety and depression.

Our Solution

Buddy Up programs create consistent opportunities for connection through inclusive environments that emphasize teamwork, belonging, and meaningful relationships.

Independence

The Challenge

Only a small percentage of individuals with Down syndrome live independently. As they transition into adulthood, many lose access to structured programs and support, which can lead to stalled progress or regression.

Our Solution

Buddy Up programs provide ongoing opportunities to develop skills that support greater independence over time. Participants never age out, allowing for growth at every stage of life.

How Our Programs Work

The Buddy Up Way

Our approach emphasizes skill building and repetition. Athletes and Students receive individualized support from trained Buddy volunteers, creating an environment where each participant progresses at their own pace.

I DO

Coaches and Instructors first demonstrate a skill.

WE DO

Athletes and Students practice alongside Buddies, who modify their levels of support based on individual needs.

YOU DO

Athletes and Students build the confidence to perform skills independently or as part of a team.
