Structured Pathway to Digital Independence
Semester-long courses (8-10 weeks) are designed to build digital skills progressively over time. Students advance through a structured course pathway that begins with foundational iPad navigation and expands into workplace-relevant technology use. Instruction focuses on using technology as a practical tool for communication, organization, productivity, and problem-solving.
Hands-On Learning and Buddy Support
A technology subject matter expert co-leads the class with a special educator. Students work directly on iPads to explore applications, complete guided tasks, and practice real-world scenarios related to daily living and work. Buddy volunteers provide individualized support throughout each class, helping Students navigate features, adapt projects to their learning pace, and build confidence as they master new digital skills.
Technology for Life is currently only offered in Columbus, OH. Check with our Columbus chapter for specific class times and session details!
Course Pathway
Course placement is subject to instructor discretion.
Introduce core apps to enable functional living skills, navigating safe browsing, taking notes, composing emails, and creating calendar events.
Prerequisites: Able to follow basic classroom directions.
Strengthen digital communication and organization skills including email, messaging, calendars, shared documents, and task management tools in personal, school, and work settings. Instruction includes real-life examples and safe online practices.
