Safety for Life

Real-world safety program that teaches first-aid, decision making, and personal responsibility through hands-on instruction and simulations.

Hands-On Learning for Real-Life Safety

Semester-long courses (8–10 weeks) blend hands-on practice with decision-making scenarios. Students learn to respond to common illnesses, minor injuries, and everyday safety situations. Students build practical first aid skills that promote personal safety, responsible decision-making, and greater independence.

Expert-Led Instruction and Individualized Support

A licensed nurse and a special educator co-lead the class. They work together to translate medical and safety concepts into accessible, meaningful instruction. Buddy volunteers provide individualized support, reinforcing instruction and encouraging Students to practice their skills.

Safety for Life has given Jackson the tools he needs to feel more confident and capable caring for himself. He knows how to recognize when a problem is big or small, and knows when to ask for help. As a parent, it’s been amazing to watch his independence grow.
