LET’S PLAY!

Within our Health and Wellness Pillar, the Buddy Up Tennis program is a weekly high-energy adaptive tennis and fitness program for children and adults with Down Syndrome ages 5+ (our oldest Athlete is approaching 55!). We enable our Athletes to flourish, succeed, and reach their fullest potential by providing a unique environment that combines tennis, fitness, and social activities through our weekly 90-minute clinics consisting of 30 minutes of fitness conditioning and 60 minutes of professional tennis instruction. 

Athletes are partnered with volunteer Buddies to provide support, develop friendships, and reinforce the Coaches’ instructions. Coaches are trained to implement the tennis curriculum specifically created for our Athletes with Down syndrome.

We develop brave athletes on the court with the self-worth and confidence to conquer their challenges and achieve their fullest potential off the court.

LET’S WORKOUT!

Within our Health and Wellness Pillar, the Buddy Up Fitness program is an ongoing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class designed specifically for those with Down syndrome ages 12+. The fitness program combines cardiovascular and strength training elements with particular emphasis on core strengthening. Athletes individually progress through multiple levels of exercises as their endurance and strength improves.

Our Buddy Up Fitness Trainers are Licensed Personal Trainers who have also completed our unique training. Volunteer Buddies oversee each exercise station and work with our Athletes to provide support and feedback, ensure safety, proper technique, and track progress. Fitness exercises consist of a variety of body weight and free-weight movements that allow for the program to be run with minimal use of complex equipment or machines. Buddy Up Fitness is filled with challenges and enjoyment to help our Athletes improve their physical fitness and achieve their personal best.

LET’S HAVE FUN!

Within our Friendship Pillar, the Buddy Up Summer Camp program is designed to provide our Athletes an additional opportunity to develop their tennis skills, while experiencing new activities, ranging from sports to the arts. We provide a weeklong, half-day camp for Athletes ages 10+ to learn, grow, and explore, with the support of Coaches, volunteer Buddies, and Camp Directors. Exposing our Athletes to new activities is at the heart of Buddy Up Summer Camp and such experiences could consist of any of the following: [keep icons]
